Mot B*llocks

I kind of expected day to go as planned but I have found out through trials of mishaps that nothing ever goes as planned.

My car got serviced a few months back and i was told i would more than likely need new front breaks before my MOT.

I booked my car in for new front breaks and mot on Monday expecting all to go well yet the garage in my eyes managed to screw things up.
My words where when i left the car at the garage “when i got it serviced, i was told i needed new front brakes can you please put new discs and pads on”. Common sense to me says that you’d do this first before the MOT to save having to re test it if it failed.

I rang the garage and their words where “we are just going to re test it now” umm. Turns out one of the front CV Boots was loose and had to be replaced, i’m sure when taking the brakes off someone would of noticed this and fixed it before it got MOT’d, in turn saving them time.

So £207 lighter, my car is road worthy (it never wasn’t road worthy) has new brakes that stop me. The old ones did just you where been tw*ts about not letting it through the mot.

Finding local services when your work sends you to random places

Although I have lived and worked in London for a number of years, my work takes me to lots of weird and wonderful places. Most of these places I have never heard of (the old cliché about Londoners not knowing anything North of London certainly applies to me!), this left me with a problem; how will I find local services when I travel to a new place? Well the answer for me was City Visitor.

City Visitor is a local business search for the UK, sort off similar to Yell.com but a lot more user friendly and seems to give you more options when searching. Simply log onto the website and type in the type of service you need and the location, I normally look to see where my hotel is and check for restaurants and pubs nearby.

The handy thing about City Visitor is that it gives you a map and circles your chosen service, that may not seem that impressive, but it also tells you where the nearest railway station is and can give you directions from any other location (sort of like Auto Route). All this information can be printed and taken with you on your travels.

City visitor also allows you to book and check room availability of thousands of hotels in the UK and book flights to anywhere in the world.

There is one little problem that I found with City Visitor and come to think of it all of the other search facilities out there, I cannot find a local Head Shop!!! It’s only a small problem and hopefully in the future they will add it, but rest assured that if there is a Head Shop in the random place I end up in, I will find it!

City Visitor is a great website for people who need to find local services, whether they live in the area or are travelling to it for the first time.

Druids Fantasy Herbal High

Last night I had a dabble in some herbal highs mainly Druids Fantasy, at first it didn’t seem to do that much for me but slowly things started to click into place.

Colours slowly started to get a lot brighter and had a more intense and i generally felt more positive about myself, I then noticed that the TV had a more depth to it like those new 3D films that Disney are pushing at the moment.

I decided that it was now my time to take a trip outside, the colours and shop lights seemed more pumped up and powerful than usual on a night out.

In conversation things seemed a lot more humorous than usual which was good as my friends can be rather boring at times?

I know that some people don’t feel any affects with herbal highs and i have had that experience before but Druids Fantasy really did seem to work for me, and i’ll be buying it again.

T-Shirt Printing Paper is rubbish?

Just been looking around for t-shirt printing for a drinking session I am having with a few mates. I originally bought a few plain white t-shirts form Tesco’s and some inkjet transfer paper. You basically use the iron to place the logo on the t-shirt. Unfortunately they came out awfully! Can’t imagine why anyone would ever use something like this? Unless I am just doing it completely wrong?

I didn’t let this failure dishearten me, I started looking around for a t-shirt printing company and came across the guys who do the t-shirts for the WordPress store – being that I’m a die hard WordPress fan and they have an impressive portfolio and sensible prices I’ve decided to use them instead of trying to do it myself again they’re called Indigo Clothing, check them out.

Going to Bristol for a Weekend away

I am  having a weekend away with the misses, leaving tomorrow. After looking around at all the possible destinations we decided it would be nice to head over to the South West and visit the City of Bristol. We are hoping for some nice weather! So I’ve booked a couple of tickets on the trainline website, got a good deal and arranged a hotel in the City Centre.

Our plan is to do a bit of shopping I’ve always fancied seeing the Clifton Suspension Bridge as well as visiting the Georgia House. Besides those bits hopefuly I will be having a weekend of chilling out and having a few beers.

HAIL ANTS

Kent Brockman’s finest hour, I reckon.

Nom nom nom!

Mrs. Hippy just made these awesome cookies…I’m not quite into “eaten so many I feel sick” country yet but I’m certainly getting my travel documents ready as we approach the border.

Picture and recipe courtesy of the wonderful Julie Parsons.

The Raconteurs

Catching up on musical reccomendations which I’ve had stacking up for more than a year now – don’t seem to have time to dive in to albums of late.

Anyhow, “Consolers of the lonely” by The Raconteurs – masterpiece! It’s been around for donkey’s and I heard a few people rave about it, entirely with good cause it turns out. An absolutely rollicking blues-and-booze fueled slice of americana.

Even sillier than my letting it gather dust on the CD shelf for months is my overall impression after the first few listens, which was “This is great but this guy is trying waaaay too hard to sound like Jack Black”. A friend pointed out in the measured and patronizing tones used on mental defectives that Jack Black is in fact a founding member of The Ranconteurs, as anyone who’s even slightly in touch would know :)

BBQ Time

The weather has been looking up recently here in Greenwich, so I’m investing in a canopy, some solar garden lights and a really awesome BBQ. I spent last summer in the north of Scotland, which was beautiful but meant I missed out on the really long warm nights in the back garden – it’s coat time come sundown that far north, even in the middle of August.

Thanks to the wonders of the London property market I’ve only got a postage stamp sized area to deck out, but there’s a nice view of the Thames with only a slight craning of the neck so it’ll all be worth it when spring turns into summer.

Comeback Kings?

Half time, Champions League quarter finals, Liverpool 2 – 0 Chelsea. A huge lead demolished, again. I hope we can keep this up…nobody in the world can beat Liverpool when they play like this for 90 minutes.

Full time update
Chelsea go forward from an epic tie. Drogba’s gamesmanship in extra time left a sour taste, otherwise a magnificent game of football. All credit to Chelsea, great game.
