Avatar 3D Reviewed

Last night i went to go and see avatar 3D at my local Odeon cinema. To be honest i like going to the cinema just because you get that big screen effect that you don’t get at home. Films like Gremlins and Ghost busters looked good on a huge screen.

Anyway. I’m sure i remember a few years ago cinema tickets been cheap i spent just under £40 for 2 people last night. Tickets where around £10 each, bag of butterkiss popcorn (toffee flavour) say £5, then a drink well that must of been around £5 to make my pick and mix £10.
The only thing that pleased me, was been able to sit in the premier seats which are more comfortable and have more leg room, oh and a holder in the arm rest for my drink which stops me craning down every 10 minutes to get it from the floor, in avatar that means I’d of been bending down to the floor around 24 times.

I knew pretty much nothing about the film apart from it appeared to have the blue man group in it.
As soon as i saw James Cameron’s name mentioned i knew it wouldn’t be a let down he’s pretty much on of my favourite directors only to be beaten by a certain Micheal Bay and just above Tim Burton. In honesty i think all 3 are great in there own scene. Burton does dark and creepy well, Bay does glamour and explosions. and Cameron does epic’s and CG.

Within the first few minutes you see Sigourney Weaver pop up not to be stereotypical of an alien movie. Also Michelle Rodriguez plays a big role in Avatar, more commonly known from Lost and the Fast and Furious franchise.

Its clear the majority of the $237 million went on CG as most of the film is CG, but its done so well and probably the best i’ve seen so far in reality terms.
Its rumoured that the true cost of the film was around $310 million and another $150 million for marketing, i will say though that its been well spent on the movie.

I think watching the film in 3D was definitely worth the premium i paid as it added an extra depth of field to the film which I’m sure it would of lacked normally.

At time of writing its total gross is around $1.3 billion, which is Just behind the first place slot which is Cameron’s Titanic which grossed $1.8 billion.

It did seem a little long and drawn out in places but i seriuosly think that had any parts been cut out, that the film would have lost its sense of direction.

GHD Straightners Vs Toni & Guy Straighteners

When your other half says that she wants some hair straighteners, what she actually means is that she wants some GHD hair straighteners.

Well i knew GHD where the best hair straightener that money can buy, but i also know that Toni & Guy are a big name in hair styling, so I bought her the Toni & Guy straighteners and also saved myself about £100.

Anyway I’m now £140 down because I’ve just had to go out and buy a set of GHD straighteners.

Hopefully when i get home i’ll get 10 spare minutes to wrap them up before she gets home, and get some extra brownie points for sorting it all out today.

Apparently the Toni & Guy straighteners wheren’t good enough even though they heat up super quick.

At the weekend we went out for a meal at a local eatery and had a lovely meal, before going to the pub for a few drinks.

Does recycling your mobile phone work?

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, illegal mining of coltan ore is used to fund rebel movements and to buy arms to fuel the continuing civil war in the region. These mines are mainly located in the areas inhabited by the endangered lowland gorilla and generally result in the destruction of their habitat. The United Nations also estimates that the conflict in the region is the deadliest since World War II, and has resulted in 5.4 million deaths.

Coltan is a source of tantalum that is used in the manufacture of high quality electronic components such as capacitors.  These are used in many consumer items, most especially mobile phones. While there are legal sources for coltan from North Western Australia, Brazil and Canada, the illegally sourced ore is often cheaper and generally cannot be traced back to its source.

One way to lessen the demand for coltan is to recycle or reuse your old mobile phones. This could be as simple as passing an old phone along to a friend or family member or using one of the recycling services that have appeared online. These services will recycle broken mobile phones free of charge and may even pay cash for mobile phones that can be reconditioned and reused. Not only does recycling your old mobile protect the environment at home by preventing the phone from ending up in a landfill site, it also helps protect the habitats of many endangered species such as the lowland gorilla.

Like i have nothing better to do

I was at work yesterday minding my own and getting on with work, and my team leader comes over and asks me to get some work t shirts ordered.

I hate my team leader, the name of the role has gone completely to his stupid little head, its a false title that means nothing, and was given to you to keep you happy.

We’ve got some right fatty bum bum’s in our office, and when i say fat I’m looking the other side of 25 stone. These are the kind of people that moan when they have to walk to the vending machine as its a 30 metre walk, they easily get out of breathe walking up the stairs, so often spend the next 10 minutes breathing heavily and puffing away trying to calm there heart rate down.

Rant over, i haven’t asked there size I’ve just ordered them XXXL if they complain not my fault they can’t stop stuffing there faces with pies, mars bars and diet coke.

It took me ages to find a t-shirt printing website that was easy to use and even longer for one that accommodated the chubby’s.

New Years Resoultion

One of 2 posts today, my new year’s resolution is to try and stop playing fruit machines, i don’t go out often but when i do i like to put a few pounds in a fruity, Deal Or No Deal ones are my favourites and I love playing them.

Anyway i was out having a meal the other day, and i was on a £70 jackpot Deal Or No Deal. I managed to get on the feature board with some ease, and quickly got the option to play Deal Or No Deal “Deal Noel”, anyway i quickly bashed the relevant button, and was doing well after the first banker call i had all my reds left with a few blues gone, that’s kind of good as the reds where all above £20. Any way next deal came and a few reds had gone but the daddy £70 was still there. By the time the third deal came i could hardly control myself as there was £70, which was my only red box and a £4 blue box.

The wanky banker offered me £13. Here I’m torn in two i mean what’s the chances of £70 been in my box, jam it deal i’ll take £13. BOLLOCKS i had £70 box.

I didn’t stop moaning all the way home. Thinking about it now if i had £4 in my box the offer of £13 wasn’t that great so i should of just gone for it. Knowing that losing £56 profit on a no deal and going to the end would of seen me with £70.

So this brings me on to stopping playing fruitys for as long as i can with hold, so i have taken it upon myself to buy some blunts which are flavoured tobacco leafs for my smoking habit, these really do give a lovely flavour over juicy papers that you can buy.

I purchased the Blunt Wrap Triple pack which gives a good selection of flavours. I’ll see how these go down and will more than likely try another type before making my mind up on my preferred blunt

New Dawn Legal High

December the 23rd is rather an important date for me, not becasue its the day before christmas eve day, but because a certain chemical is been banned in the UK by law, which will stop me and thousands of other smokers enjoying ourselves.

Any way theres word on the street of a few new products that don’t have the banned chemicals in, they are branded Aromatherapy Incense and are to be used in a suitable incense burner Cough, Cough (Bong).

One of the new Herbal Highs / Aromatherapy Incense is called New Dawn, i’d like to think it will give a nice sweet tasting smoke as it has honey and vanilla  listed in the Ingrediants as well as Damiana, Leonotis, Erythrina, Clover (Not Butter), Verbascum Thapsus, Pukatee and Liverwort.

Its produced by a company called Summit Corp who are over in Panama City, hopefully they’ll have some more products in their line up.

An “all you drink holiday”? Where’s my passport…….

We’re still contemplating the idea of a cruise for the honeymoon and while the Oasis of the Seas does look good, I have found an even better deal (which I haven’t actually got round to telling the girlfriend about yet…). Basically, I guess in an attempt to pull in more custom, some cruises are offering free ale for the entire time you’re onboard, instead of making you pay over inflated prices at the bars. To be honest, I thought cruises were all inclusive but unless you are happy with endless Fanta or cups of tea you’ll have to shell out. Now, I know it’s a honeymoon and that and I want to be on my best behaviour but it got me wondering just how much alcohol I’d need to put away to make the cost worthwhile? The costs start at approx £20 per night for the all you can drink beer package, £30 a night for cheapo shots and £45 for more up market shots – that’s on top of the cost of the cruise. Now, I can drink with the best of them but the thought of having to, just to justify the upfront cost doesn’t seem all that appealling to me. And knowing my luck I’ll fork out for the ale and spend all my time craving JD & coke, which of course I’ll have to pay seperately for. The chances are that after 5 days of solid drinking you are going to be desperate for a break and you’ll probably ending up drinking less than you’ve paid for. Sometimes these cruise deals seems like the bargain of the century but look a bit closer and you find out that they’re not quite the steal they appear to be. Oh well, back to the bargain hunting….

Buying a Left Hand Drive Car in London

Historically, people the world over travelled on the left side of the road. Like today, most of the world’s population was right-handed, and it was easier to mount a horse from the left, as well as draw one’s sword against enemies in violent feudal societies. Cars came along and they originally had the driving position in the centre, to the left, or right. Having a left hand drive car in London has a number of advantages, the most important one is that they are usually cheaper to buy, particularly pre-owned cars.

Finding a left hand drive car in London is not very difficult but it will pay you to go to a dealer that specialises in selling and maintaining left hand drive cars. The left hand drive cars London dealership will be able to offer a variety of cars, from every day cars to prestige with options on petrol or diesel powered manual or automatic gear change.

Whilst it could be new to you, getting around in left hand drive cars on the right side of the road is every bit as safe as driving on the left. All you have to do is take the car out with the car dealer, who will happily give you tips, within a short space of time you’ll soon enjoy cruising the highways and byways of your chosen destination and be happy at the money saved for you by the left hand drive vehicles London specialist.

Looking for Private Number Plates

So I was checking out the DVLA site today, as I was looking for a private number plate, unfortunately the one I was hoping for (h1 ppy) wasn’t available.

So I’m on the look out for a different number plate, I’m not sure what though – perhaps H1 55Y? Doesn’t really work I suppose…

I’ve noticed a few funny instances around, last month the DVLA withdrew a few personalised number plates because they were offensive to gay people (one said the deragatory term for lesbians and the other the derogatory term for a homosexual male – to be polite). That’s not as bad in the US though, they withdraw over 9000 plates that started with WTF, because in Internet lingo it stands for “What the F*ck” – how crazy is that!!!

How Not To Break My Bong

I’ve got a few bongs that i use personally but won’t let others use because they where either really expensive or mean a lot to me.

Anyway last night a good friend asked if he could use one of my glass bongs, know I’ve known this guy for years and have trusted him with my cars before and they’ve always come back in one piece and undamaged so i thought what the heck. I handed over my glass bong and he was really careful with it so i wasn’t to bothered.

Anyway i went up to the toilet and was only gone a few minutes and when i came down i found my glass bong on the floor in more pieces than I’m familiar with. He’d placed it on the table and then got up but nudged the table and my best glass bong fell on to the rug, but the top shattered and it split in the middle.

I was really pissed with him for about 30 minutes, but realised it was only a bong and that i could buy another one. This is the main reason that i lend friends acrylic bongs, as i’m not as bothered about them breaking and they are a hell of a lot harder to break.
