Lucky streak

Recently I have had some luck on the horses with some wins on online betting sites on races. I got into online betting after receiving a free voucher so thought I would try it out on the horses and I do quite find it exhilarating! Probably more than when I go to the races because I am sat in my nice house with a cheaper beer in hand.

I have now decided to venture further in to betting with football betting, I mean I follow the sport so why not try my luck out on this? I have though decided not to bet on any games that involve my beloved Leeds because of a fear I could curse them, so I thought I would be better off with Premier League betting! Hoping than Manure will lose a lot and make me money at the same time would be a dream come true.

Anyway at the moment I’m keeping this quiet from the missus (she does worry) so I can reap the benefits myself, because no doubt if I win big she would have her eye on it for shoes, clothes and god knows what else! Although I will spend some winnings on a nice gift for her, to keep her sweet and keep me in the good books so I can carry on.

What a week

What a week it’s been Gaddafi is dead and buried minus his golden gun, Jenson Button opened a restaurant in Harrogate, Leeds United won Again & Kelly Rowland kicked off with chavy Tulissa.

I’m glad they’ve finally caught Gaddafi as we couldn’t afford another long drawn out war like we have with the Taliban. Mind you he wasn’t actively trying to hide out in a little house he was always springing up in his daft uniform and ridiculous hat.

I recently got a nice parcel from Shiva with some seeds and a new smoking pipe in which should keep me going for a while anyway. I let my mate borrow one of my smoking pipes to try out the other week and it turns out his dog got hold of it and chewed it so he got me a new one and some seeds to say sorry, what kind mates I have. Although he does need to sort his dog out though, that thing will chew anything, TV remotes, phones, leads, car keys and once the tongue out of my trainers when I went round.

It is the Indian GP at the weekend which will be interesting as its the very first race, practice sessions I guess will be pretty busy and I reckon that the drivers have all been busy in the simulators and even playing the track on Formula 1 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 trying to master it with slightly better graphics.

Now that’s a result I like

I watched with glee on Saturday as Manure got beat by City 6-1, although I always knew City would beat them it was nice to see they did so well. Although when you spend as much on players as City do results like that should be expected, it’s the kind of investment Leeds need or will defiantly need if were are ever to get back on top. A win for us also made my weekend although the winner left till last as seems to be the norm for us, we just need to keep powering through and we should do well this season.

This week also saw, finally Gaddafi captured and killed after many months of him taunting his people and evading capture the very people whose lives he had ruined were the ones to put an end to his tyrant rule. Although some believe who shouldn’t have been killed so inhumanely and should have received a fair trial I personal think this is the best outcome for the people of Libya its over now and they can get on re-building their country again.

On a better note but still war based, I’m happy there are only a few days left before Battlefield 3 comes out. There go my weekends, evenings and any free time. More to come when I get the game, if I can peel myself away long enough to write a review.

Censoring the internet

The government in all its infinite wisdom have announced plans to block internet content, they want our Internet Service Providers (ISP) to censor web content they think is unsuitable i.e. adult content. This move stems from the fact that children can access unsuitable materials from the internet, normally because parental controls are not set, by parent.

I’m not sure how parent’s inability to set up parental controls correctly would mean a blanket ban, however in the end I fear that is what we may face. It seems that in the past few years the responsibilities put on parents for their children have disappeared and it’s now up to everyone else to suffer because of it.

If the Government force ISP’s to ban adult material on the web, what is the next step? Our freedom of speech?

One of the things that really gets my goat about government interference is that our liberties are slowly being ebbed away, case in point the smoking ban and probably in the not so distant future probably bans on alcohol or at least restrictions. We as humans have free will and in the United Kingdom we have liberty however the things that we once fought for are been taken from us and our government seem to think that people have no free will.

I hope for our future governments don’t start tinkering with our internet, we don’t want to end up like China, although I would guess that is what our wonderful leaders really want.

Weekend shenanigans

Well firstly Hamilton’s overtaking was on fire against Mark Webber, that was truly a champions drive from him and he should look back at that manoeuvre and see how good he can be. Leeds also won at the weekend against Doncaster, which has shuffled us up the league table again, which is nice to see as we were too close to the bottom for my liking.

I’m really looking forward to our holiday well I say look forward as I can take the camera, but then I can’t take my iolite or any herbal smoking blends which is a bit of a drag. But then I suppose I might be able to get something over there you never know. Although on the other hand if I’m off my tits for the duration I’ll be slightly annoyed that I forgot what I did and she will be moaning due to the fact I’m out of it.

I’m not really sure how much money I should be taking with me, is 1k too much or not enough. On an all-inclusive resort style then I’d say too much but it depends what you want to do while you’re away. I think I’ll end up taking a credit card with me just in case I need to do a bulk withdraw of cash for an emergency or something.

Busy Saturday

Well the weather has turned a bit nippy now which is annoying, although as its October it’s to be expected I suppose. I have been out and about today looking for Halloween costume ideas for me and the missus. We have been invited to a party by some of our friends who decided you’re never too old to enjoy Halloween; well I’d like to beg to differ! The wife has it in her head that we should do a couples outfit, it’s bad enough at my age dressing up in fancy dress but a couples outfit draws the line and I told her where to go. This left me alone to sort it out myself, humph!

Anyway whilst out I noticed that there is a huge amount of Christmas stuff around already, which put me in a bad mood! I decided after having enough of looking round shops that I would head to Game to cheer myself up. Well that did me no good; I decided that looking for things on the internet has made me find stuff on the highstreet too expensive. Games cost more, clothes seem to cost more and plus I get stressed.

So now back in the safety of my house with laptop comforting me I can get down to business and find a cool costume, and you know what its sooooo much easier, I just never want to leave!

Holidays

Well I think I should have a change of career to travel agent, after successfully booking a safari online for me and the missus I have also managed to secure an amazing deal for a cruise and stay holiday for us both next year to Miami and Mexico.

I was really excited for the safari and seeing animals in their natural habitat and seeing my father in his of course! But when I came across the cruise deal I had to snap that up there and then! I had only been looking at holidays to the States to waste time last Sunday afternoon when I came across cruise holidays to the US and Caribbean.

I have always wanted to go and but could never really decide where to go and how to get around. So when I read the details about the cruise and stay holidays I thought it would be a great way to get a taste of the US and plus it means having a really nice hot holiday too in the Caribbean which is one of my favourite places for sunshine!

The Cruise itself is 17 nights and includes three nights stay in Miami and a 14 night cruise around the Caribbean stopping off at Grand Turk, San Juan, St Maarten, Half Moon Cay Curacao and Bonaire. All ports I have never been to before!

The missus is equally excited but probably more so at what the cruise ship has to offer, I think she will be spending a lot of time in the spa and sunbathing of course. Personally I am looking forward to visiting Miami, seeing the funky art deco buildings and making the most of the local area in the short time we have there. If I like it then no doubt I will book another US trip in the future so I can spend a bit more time there and of course explore the rest of the US!!

Football, F1 Qualifying, gardening bits and weekend TV time

Well the football last night was not good at all, although we did qualify Rooney’s incident set a dark cloud over the game. After all that had happened previous to the game with the lad’s family being in the news for match fixing, I didn’t think Capello should have played him. The team didn’t really need him and could have managed with some of the other younger players for this game. Now we will have to see how many games he is disqualified for next year, on another note maybe Rooney is not yet ready for captaincy I still think he has a lot of growing up to do, there is still some thuggery in him to get the captaincy.

I enjoyed todays F1 qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix and was nice to see Jenson doing well, unfortunately luck was not on Jenson’s team mates side as Hamilton had a bit of bad luck which cost him pole. Tomorrow we will no doubt see Vettel clinch his second title which we will see him go down in the history books, hopefully for team UK Button can keep up his good streak for the rest of the season and see him take second, at least.

I managed to get a bit done in the garden today as well, some weeding was necessary after the hot spell encouraged the weeds to grow and was starting to look a bit jungle like. I wish I was a better gardener maybe it’s something I should look into as I get older, the only things I am good at growing are the things I shouldn’t be (cough, cough) herbs.

One last note, I am excited to see that Boardwalk Empire is back on TV again, this Emmy award winning show is really what’s needed on TV at the moment with everything dominated by reality TV show such as X Factor and Big Brother can’t wait to open a beer and settle down to watch it tonight.

Newsworthy stories

Firstly I have read that a prisoner has pleaded guilty to manslaughter of fellow prisoner Colin hatch and attempted murder of Ian Huntley, both victims were paedophiles and child killers. I like to think that this is effectively killing two birds with one stone and that both kiddie fiddlers got what they deserved although I wish Huntley had been killed to, that would save us some money.

It’s obvious to see that men like Huntley and Hatch are the lowest form and it’s nice to know in prison they have to watch their backs, just in case proper justice is served. Damien Fowkes who is 35 and serving time for armed robbery admitted manslaughter on the ground of diminished responsibility, whatever happens to him, I’m sure some people are glad he did what he did to those men.

Also in the news this week a pub landlady has won the right to air Premier League games in her pub using a foreign TV decoder. The case has been to the European Court of Justice after she was fined nearly £8,000 including costs. According to the ECJ the national laws which prohibit the import, sale or use of foreign decoder cards are contrary to the freedom to provide services. This could have implications for the Premier League and could for a shake up after all Sky Sports and ESPN have exclusive contracts to show game here in the UK.

Although many people believe Sky has a monopoly on the Sports channels they do pay huge sums to do so, is any free TV service willing to do the same? If there is to be more completion on showing football games, I do worry that clubs may suffer as a result. After all the fiasco with ITV trying and failing to buy rights cost many smaller clubs dearly and some have yet to recover.

Speaking of TV I am glad to see that Boardwalk Empire is back on TV on Saturday will be looking forward to getting into this show again, really like looking into this era although not sure how I could have survived the prohibition lol!

Sport and chilling out

Well Leeds managed to grab a win at the weekend  by beating Portsmouth 1-0, in all serious we can’t be affording to have 1-0 wins all the time though, we need to start getting more goals otherwise it will come to the end of the season and that’s when goals for are the most important. I seriously see Cardiff been a thorn in our side again this season.  I suppose I can’t complain since we are starting to do better ever so slightly and we are making progress away from the foot of the table.

I’ve already got a few duplicate packs of cannabis seeds so I’ve decided to flog them on eBay next time there is one of those free listings days that they have every so often.

Haven’t really been out that much recently as I’ve been a bit strapped for cash, it turns out that everything always wants money at some point whether its cars or electrical items like showers, and you can pretty much say that you’re not getting much change from £100.

I don’t really mind staying in as it gives me a better chance to relax and smoke some herbal blends without worrying who’s going to question me. I’ve noticed that there are few and fewer new blends coming out, it was only a year or so back that new ones where coming out every few days, but it’s down to a snail’s pace now, but the ones that do come out are pretty nice to smoke.
