Winning on the gift front

I am happy to say that the Valentines gifts went down a treat. The wife was happy to receive a bottle of her favourite perfume as she had just about finished her last bottle and I got extra points because I opted for the large bottle. She also loved the scarf but was surprised I had managed to choose something to her tastes myself (I didn’t mention the helpful shop assistant!).

I was chuffed with the external hard drive she got me, boring I know but I have been nagging for one. It’s not the most romantic gift but was needed mainly for our holiday snaps, anyway us blokes aren’t bothered about gifts anyway!

The thing is with Valentine’s Day gifts it’s the thought that counts. But, honestly, it’s really not thoughtful to buy your better half a terrible gift-on Valentine’s Day or ever. Personal as a rule I don’t drop cash on any of the cutesy-bad or clueless-gross presents you can get. No one wants them.

Here’s a list I made of no, no gifts for Valentine’s Day, did anyone get something off this list??

A coupon for any kind of love based activity or chore based activity. You know they won’t get cashed in, ever especially those sex vouchers!

Self-help books are bad in general but defiantly not gift options. Can be easily taken too personally!

Knives should not be given as gifts, its bad luck. According to some ancient philosophies knives and sharp objects like scissors and swords send harsh energy and are meant to sever the relationship with the receiver.

Exercise/ diet gifts these can lead to many misunderstandings, even if said person wants the exercise equipment, workout DVDs, and running shoes. Argument ensures!
Edible/Candy underwear, just no, never.

Gimmicky ‘joke’ gifts are a waste of money will end up in bin within a week.

Anything that could be considered a small appliance, normally for the kitchen, she really wont appreciate it easier to buy it when she wants it, not as a gift for an occasion.

Anything which you the gift giver will get more use/enjoyment out of!
